K-Nite 2023 RESILIENCE

The winds are softly sweeping away the rubbles, the fallen leaves. As the sun sets over a short era of chaos and dismay, so the ground begins to vibrate and tremble to the uneven rhythms of nature. Steps can softly be heard crossing the grass growing green again, flowers sprouting, life, growing. Stage lights come to life, burning brighter as the darkness fades away. The phoenix is born again, away with the ashes. Electric energy is building up, static crackles. Let there be dance and music again. Let the awakening commence... let the resilience shine through!

K-Nite is MKLCC’s yearly Korean-culture gala presented in the form of an on-stage performance-driven show. Its goal is to showcase the various aspects of Korean culture through different art forms and local, national and international talents. Ranging from K-Pop to samulnori, gayageum to buchaechum, violin to contemporary dance, piano to poetry, the amalgamation and creativity are boundless. All to inspire and instill curiosity, interest, and further insight into Korean culture through the arts.

K-Nite 2023 RESILIENCE celebrates the end of a global pandemic by showcasing the strength of artists (and all human beings) who were not able to perform during these difficult COVID-19 years. RESILIENCE is about renewal, revival, and rebirth. It’s about celebrating the powering through and the adaptability of humankind as one creative cell. It’s about celebrating life through arts and culture!

Throughout the evening, the theme of RESILIENCE will be explored through three distinct dimensions (1) the struggle to recover, (2) the importance of support and (3) inner strength. The struggle to recover will aim at showcasing how human beings, even in dire situations, still find it in them to never give up and to keep on trying. The importance of support shines the light on the importance of relying on others, without whom it is difficult to get through and recover from hardships. Finally, inner strength shows how one human being can always find it in them to push through and achieve the impossible!
